PHYSICAL FITNESS

Characteristics persons achieve that relates to their ability to perform physical activity. It can be described in rerms of health-related physical fitness and skill-related physical fitness

Intensity of physical activity is measured by

  • Percentage of oxygen uptake reserve (VO2R)
  • Heart rate reserve (HRR)
  • Oxygen consumption (VO2)
  • Heart rate (HR)
  • Metabolic equivalents (METs)

Light PA                < 3 METs

Moderate PA         3-6 METs

Vigorous METs     >= 6 METs
